Before I begin this post, I’d to acknowledge the almost one year absence I’ve had from this blog!
It can be the case that when you’re working in the industry all day long, there can be a lack of time, and desire, to do it in your free time as well. Yet here I am today, back at it, because throughout the last month at MBFF and Designer Q I’ve remembered just how much I miss doing this. So here I am, hoping you’re still interested in what I have to say about fashion and kicking off my very first post of 2019 (in September!) with the fantastic designs I was lucky enough to witness at Designer Q on Saturday night.
Designer Q is always a spectacular event and one I look forward to so much each year. It’s the only annual event in my calendar that calls for full formal gowns and jewels! I love the amount of thought and effort the team put into every detail of the event and I always walk away feeling inspired. For me this year there were a number of standout designers which include Nicola Finetti, Tigerlash, Niki Teljega, Kiara-Bella Designs and Lennen Graham. I absolutely adore how each designer has used their creativity and individual inspiration to create something truly unique, not to mention many of these pieces were hand made by the designers themselves. You can see their passion and determination in every stitch.
The ever-so-talented Richard Smith captured these stunning shots from the night. I hope you enjoy them and please take a moment to see more of Richard’s work, here.
For this event, I actually re-wore my grade 12 formal dress! I’m quietly happy that my choice ten years ago is still as classic today as the day I got it (and still fits like a glove 😛 ) The dress is by the stunning Nicola Angela.
